Dutch student visa

Luckily, the process of obtaining a visa as an international student in the Netherlands is surprisingly straightforward with a high approval rate! Are you a non-EU student, looking to study in the Netherlands? Then you will typically need to apply for either an entry visa (MVV) and/or a residence permit. The application for the student visa can be completed through the University Immigration Office or via the university’s online platforms. Once approved, your visa will be issued and is valid for the duration of your studies. Next to that, you can apply for a one-year residency before your courses begin, in order to prepare for your studies.

Working as a student

Now, you might be wondering about working opportunities with a student visa in the Netherlands. Well, you are in luck! While there are some limitations (e.g. max of 16 hours of work per week), you can work full-time during the months of June, July, and August due to seasonal employment. When applying for a student visa, you need to show you can pay for your studies. The Dutch Government usually asks for proof of having 957.87 EUR per month.
