Our client is an international bank active in banking, asset management, leasing, insurance, and real estate. You will join a core department at the heart of the bank, responsible for overseeing the balance sheet and supporting financial strategy. This role provides valuable insights into key financial processes in a dynamic, global banking environment.
Functie
As a Junior Risk Manager, you will work with the Quantitative Risk Management system to help manage the bank’s balance sheet and interest rate risk. Your responsibilities include delivering financial forecasts, analyze balance sheet developments, and ensuring accurate risk system calculations. Acting as the link between IT and finance, you will translate financial needs into system requirements and contribute to process improvements. Your findings will be shared with key stakeholders, including Treasury, Finance, Risk teams, decision-making teams, and external regulators.
Within the Treasury ALM department, there are two distinct roles, each with a different focus.
Position 1: Core Squad – Reporting and Data Validation.
In this role, your tasks include:
- Validating and processing incoming contract data to ensure correct integration into the risk system;
- Analyzing calculation results to identifying discrepancies, such as balance mutations or interest rate fluctuations;
- Preparing and delivering financial reports for local entities based on verified data;
- Communicating with stakeholders to clarify reports, answer inquiries, and ensure data integrity.
Position 2: Forecasting Squad – Financial Forecasting & Stress Testing.
This role is more focused on forecasting and scenario analysis. Key responsibilities include:
- Running stress tests on interest income by applying different interest rate scenarios in collaboration with the Balance Sheet Management team;
- Forecasting Net Interest Income (NII) to support financial planning and decision-making;
- Analyzing financial data changes to identify key factors influencing earnings in different scenarios;
- Helping with business budgeting by providing insights into interest margins and financial forecasts.
Functie-eisen
To be a successful Junior Risk Manager, you have or are:
- MSc in (Quantitative) Finance, Financial Economics, Econometrics, or similar;
- Knowledge of financial market products and an interest in balance sheet dynamics;
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills;
- Affinity for translating financial needs into system requirements;
- Proactive, eager to learn, and comfortable with taking ownership;
- Strong communication skills and a team player;
- Able to work with large datasets and familiar with software tools such as SQL;
- Fluent in English.
